Our little girl is, as my mom says, exceptional. I am beginning to agree. When Emery was in the NICU she was not on a respirator nor was she on antibiotics. When we told the pediatrician this he was very surprised and said he had never heard of that being the case before. Emery has beat the odds again. In the winter time the cold virus is called RSV. If you get a cold between October and March in South Carolina you have the RSV virus. This virus is tough on babies and can cause serious complications in preemies. There are standards set up by the American Pediatric Association that says preemies born at certain weeks of gestation are at high, medium or low risk for RSV. Emery, being born at 33 weeks is part of the low risk group. There are certain criteria that dictate whether or not the child is at risk at all. Some of the risk factors are siblings, staying in day care more than 2 hrs a week, and parents who smoke. Our pediatrician still wanted to see if we could get the insurance company to cover the expenses of the shots to prevent RSV. We were sent to a pediatric Pulmonologist. He went through the risk factors and Emery is not exposed to any of them. The Pulmonologist listened to her breathe and said she has strong lungs. He felt very confident that Emery would not need the series of shots used to prevent RSV. He discussed with us some precautions to take for the next couple of months which include not being around kids who go to daycare, having everyone who holds her wash their hands before doing so. We were very pleased with the visit and feel that the Lord is already watching over her. He must have big plans for her!!
About two weeks ago we went to the doctor and changed the formula that Emery is taking. We were using a thick 22 calorie formula that she was on while she was in the NICU. It started to become difficult for her to handle so the doctor changed her to a soy formula. We still had two six packs of the original formula so we called down to the NICU and offered to return the formula to our favorite nurse, Jill. We were alrea

dy down town today for my 6week check up with the OBGYN so we ran the formula by the NICU. It was good to see Nurse Jill, who took such good care of Emery while she was there, but at the same time I am so thankful that she is home and doing so well.
I dont understand why God is as faithful to us as He is. We do not deserve such love and provision. I do know that our love for our children is just a glimpse of how much He loves us and that is amazing.
"The Lord is good to all, He has compassion on all He has made" Psalm 145:9
"For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways" declares the Lord. Isaiah 55:8
In His Care,
Jill

Hey Jill,
Glad to hear everything is going well with Emery Lee. She is a beautiful little girl and you are truly blessed. As I told you a few weeks ago, leave it in Gods Hands and believe His words and have faith. Faith will move mountains and He moved them all from around your family. Take care and enjoy motherhood. She is going to grow and change everyday. Love and hugs to Emery, you and Dan. PS Try to nap when she naps LOL.
